Will 335/35-17 Fit ERA before number 530?
Bob recommends the max size rear tire to be 315/35-17 before chassis 530. After that the 335/35-17s will fit OK. Has any ERA owner successfully fited the 335/35-17 tire and wheel to their ERA Cobra before chassis 530? I REALLY respect Bob's info but I really want to run the 335/35 for more sidewall.
I am already running a Trans-Am rain tire that has a section width of 13 11/16 inches and a diameter of 26.3". If any ERA owner is running a 335/35-17 I would like to know the wheel rim width and backspace specs. |
tires
I have era 428. I sent the car back to ERA to have the body modified for the pilots 335-17. I has the PS wheel 6 pin drives on the car. If you don't get the car balanced with your weight in it, they will rub. My ride height is 5" front and rear with soft setting on the shocks. I weight 230 and less than 5", it rubs the rear inner fenders. Car handles great and looks good too. Rick Lake

Modified inner rear fenders
Rick, I do plan to call Bob about this modification but where did ERA modify your fenders? Was it the rear inner fender area that is closest to the transmission tunnel?

I'll have to check, but I believe there was a change made in the fiberglass splash panel behind the seat (in front of the tire). With some effort, It can be updated but requires new carpet in that area.

Bob, Was that a production mod for all cars after some chassis number or is it an on-request modification only? |
