FE intake for smooth hood?

Bob, in a discussion with Peter this am, he stated that a stock Ford mid-riser would fit, and the Edelbrock and Blue Thunder would both need appx .25" milled off. Can you confirm? Is there an off-the-shelf aluminum 1x4 FE intake that doesn't need to be machined? Or is there a particular air cleaner that avoids the problem?

Thanks and regards,
Sam

Sam, contact Chuck Brandt. He's a member here and has his own webpage.

He's got an ERA with a street hood...no scoop. He's running a 390 with an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake and I don't recall him mentioning anything about modifications.

Brent's right, Performer RPM. I did go through quite a bit of air cleaner combos though.

The air cleaner bit is on August 17th, 2004

Yes I think you would have more clearance with the H&S aircleaners.

I have the original aluminum PI intake that fits under the no-scoop hood with a 14" air cleaner and K&N filter, n o problem.
