I ordered mine on 3/6/07 so I imagine my number is either right before or right after yours. I spoke to Peter a couple weeks ago and he said they would start mine very soon. Still don't have my chassis #. I need to pester him once more I guess.

My ERA number changed a couple of times before Peter got it right! It always takes longer than you think up there in New Britain, and there's no way to make it go faster (I tried every way I could think of, and nothing worked). But the quality is the best on the planet -- I would think you should be driving it in the Spring without any problems.... maybe.

Jim, I think I may go with black with white stripes, a white meatball on front and a blood red team stripe. The contrast should be eye popping if I get the colors correct. I just purchased a Triumph Thruxton motorcycle in black with white stripe and I think they will make good stable mates.

ERA Roller Lead Time

Legendary chassis *745* is nearing completion, finally :D:D Peter has advised me to make arrangements to have it picked up Labor Day Weekend. So I can make a fairly complete testimonial today on how long it takes to get a "painted rolling chassis." This car includes the 6-pin wheels, tires, and standard Jag rear. All I am doing is installing the engine, tranny, wiring harness, and interior.

Ordered mid Sept 06, frame started Jan 07, shipped to Tony for paint late Apr 07, returned to ERA mid Jul 07, completed early Sep 07. So that says the following:

Initial queue time: 4 months
Frame build, body fab, bond to chassis: 3 months
Paint at Tony's (YMMV!): 2.5 months
Final Assembly to roller: 1.5 months

Total cycle time with 1650 mi haul to Texas just under 12 months. I'm glad I didn't know this up front, I might have gone elsewhere. But looking at my car now, I am astounded at the value of an ERA vs $ and have no second thoughts whatever. You might be able to save a little time in paint, and maybe a little time if Peter doesn't lose your chassis .. but then again, you need to allow for some unexpected events .. it's part of why each ERA is a unique piece of art.
