Need help with brake lines - ERA

Had a little problem the other day, the car slipped off the jackstands in the front as I was lowering the back. Luckily the only damage was a squished brake line. I thought no biggie until I saw this fitting on the master cylinder end (Tilton). I'm not sure how to make the flare, is it just the first step of a double flare or something special? I'm hoping this is nothing tragic because we were planning to drive the car to Road America on the 19th....

Thanks, Chuck

That looks like an iso flare, used on foreign and late model american cars. They sell a special tool to flare the line but you can remove the whole line and match it up at a quality auto parts store. The 1st step of a double flare will not work.

The thread is 3/8-24 with a bubble flare. For the front line to the junction, we modify a Cant Kink 340MR by cutting it in half and adding a standard double flare to the other end. Since not many people can make a good bubble flare, that's what I would recommend to you - only you don't have to make them in pairs. ;)

Thanks Bob,
That seems like a good plan. I can do that.

Best regards, and happy 4th to the ERA gang.

Chuck
