Deciding On A Manufacturer
My son and I have been on the fence for the last 18 months trying to decide on which Cobra replicar manufacturer to purchase a car from. We have visited all of their web sites, attended the 2006 Run & Gun and the 2007 London show speaking with owners and have even visited three of the manufacturing companies. We have made spread sheet comparisons and spent a great deal of time narrowing our choices down. This past week I visited ERA and met with Peter and Bob. These two gentlemen were extremely hospitable, helpful and knowledgable about their product. Peter spent a great deal of time showing me around the facility and answering many quetions. I am a mechanical engineer by trade and was impressed by the robust design of the frame and components. The assembly manual is very thorough and filled with many visual aids. By the end of my visit my decision was made and I placed a deposit down on a ERA 427 SC. My son and I are looking forward our interaction with Peter and Bob are anxious to get started on our Cobra journey.

Sounds like you really did your homework. You won't be disappointed in your choice.
Now all the fun stuff: engine, transmission, paint... I highly recommend the bonded body / powder coated frame option. Also, when you ship your car (assuming you're doing a kit) try to get all the "big stuff" in one shipment with the car, including the rear suspension, side pipes, et cetera. This will save you on shipping $. Incidentally, I used Intercity for shipping, and they were outstanding. |

Due to garage space issues and available time, I have asked for delivery of the kit in September 2008. The gagage issue will be resolved by giving my son my 1966 Mustang and the time issue is due to my job which is necessary to be able to afford the Cobra. |

Check out Rich and Doug Lacy for transport also. They've moved three cars for me (two cars, one twice) and have been great. Also competitively priced. In addition, you don't have to worry about transfers along the way.

Congratulations on your research and your choice. The chasis design, use of high quality bushings, and a host of very well engineered detail work to make certain things "just better" is what makes the ERA's special. I had another (different brand) cobra for 2 years, and I was amazed when I drove an ERA. I highly recommend their custom rear suspension with larger, outboard brakes. Lighter (aluminum frame), cools better being outboard, and easier maintenance (plus the assembly is a work of art). You and your son will have a blast assembling your car. Rickd

Congrats on completing your due diligence. I am also from STL and my son and I are in the starting phase of the search. Went to the RNG last year and am going to spend a bunch of time there this year as well. My timeline for completion/arrival of my dream ride is summer of 2009. Delivery
2 weeks ago had my FIA delivered by Intercity to Scottsdale. Can't say enough good about them.:3DSMILE: 5 star rating.:D

Was at ERA last week and took a couple of pics of three customers' cars...don't know whos or what #'s, but scoped a real nice Dk blue 427 that was just fired up. Check my gallery's first page.

I was at ERA at the end of September and was very impressed. The dark blue Cobra looked great. Did you see the hidden battery compartment in the trunk? I did a fit check in the silver one and found that I had more seat room than in a Factory 5, Shell Valley or Unique. Clyde |
