Gauge question for FIA

Hello Bob,

The closer 2121 gets… the more questions I have. Could you provide insight to the following for the drop dash option with standard gauges?

- I’d like to swap out the mechanical oil pressure, oil temp and water temp gauges for some with electric senders. Are they available & can the wiring harness accommodate this change?

- Is it possible to replace the Ammeter with a Voltmeter? Again, can the wiring harness accommodate?

As always, thanks for all your help!

If you're getting the dropped dash make sure that you specify that you want the clock in it (if you do). It is not part of the standard gauge package even for the dropped dash. According to Peter, the gauges are aligned slightly different if you're not getting the clock so you can't just drop one in later (after the dash is cut) and have it look correct.

Great suggestion WarrenG.

Never noticed till you mentioned it. These pics show a different placement for the switches as well.

How do you like your clock... does it keep time?

It works great when the battery is hooked up. I almost always pull the kill switch key when the car is parked so the clock has to be reset everytime I get back in it. I mostly got the dropped dash and clock for the way it looks. I pretty much rely on my watch for accurate time anyway.

I can add 3 wires that pass through the firewall but they're not in the standard harness. No big deal if I can associate a harness directly with your kit.

Are these (SW-82218 set) Stewart Warner gages OK? The clock will have to be a different style.

If you want something different, we'll have to talk...

I was told once the correct clock is from a '62 Galaxie.

Kirkham now offers these electronic gauges:

I hope this helps.

I also have the drop down dash w/ the clock on FIA 2095. The clock keeps great time....highly recommended. The original clock was from either a 62 Galaxy or Falcon.

Bob,

After much contemplation, I’ll stay with the Stewart Warner mechanical setup (I like the 270 degree sweep) :3DSMILE: but do want to swap out the Ammeter with a Voltmeter # 82391.

Did not specify a clock for my set up but would like to fill the void with an eight gauge.

Any suggestions are welcome... Fuel Pressure, Exhaust Temp, Air/Fuel ratio, Vacuum?

Thanks,
289FIA
