ERA Windshield Glass?

I have talked with Bob and ERA does not have any bare glass for sale. The question to other ERA owners is: have you purchased a replacement windshield and installed it in the ERA frame? If so, who was the supplier?

I see several sources, like Finishline, Shell Valley, Cobra Restorers, Bethania Garage, etc. But I have no first hand knowledge that the ERA frame is generic and will accept a "standard" Cobra glass.

What brand is the existing glass? Look in the lower corners. I bought Velex (?) from Cobra Restorers a few years ago. It came very well packaged and pricing was very aceptable. There was a "Deposit" on the large packing box that was refundable if the box was returned.

A friend with a Superformance had his done at a local automotive glass shop. They looked at and said "no problem" however, whe he picked it up they informed him it was a total pain and the next time it was goin to cost......$$$$

I couldn't find any local supplier that could even look up a glass windshield. They were all clueless! One even told me I had the year wrong (96 Cobra- Mustang)!! Mine too has the Velux stamping as Rick Parker's. I will have to agree with Rick on where to purchase (Cobra Restorers). They have the right stuff and it comes from the right place (England). You order it and like Rick said, pay the deposit on the box and send it back when your done. Great guy's, call Chuck Gutke or Sandra and they will take care of it. Thanks Matt.

Call Rich Anderson at Shell Valley, I think he may be able to help.

I never sent the empty box back for the $50.00 credit. Thought it would cost near that to send an oversized empty box from Calif (?)

Hello, I am planing to order a cobra kit from Unique or Era, but i would like to get spare parts to it. so when I reads this post i wonder, is there problems to get part from these companies ? can they not get you a Windshield or is it so that they can get it but it takes a long time ?

Don't worry 66gt-Norway. If you order an ERA Peter can and will make sure you get the parts you need. Jack just replaced the glass in my windshield and I'm sure they'll be able to get more. As for the other parts... not a problem.

Bob thinks this may be from Germany. ERA has changed suppliers since this car was built. Either way, they buy the complete assembly, not the glass. So they do not stock the glass.

Data from other members is starting to indicate to me that most replica cars DO use the same glass dimensions. So I am about to get confident enough to order generic from one of the aforementioned suppliers.

Norway, I don't think you'll have a problem with spare parts from either Unique or ERA. In this case, I think I am about to conclude that this windshield glass can be obtained from one of several Cobra part suppliers. If it were an ERA manufactured part, they would of course have it available. Bob did offer to order it for me .. I think I can get it sooner by ordering from a parts house.

By the way .. I have read that the Superformance cowl shape variation from the original design does mean that SPF's have their own glass size.
