Rear wiring ? for Bob P
Bob:
I am in the midst of wiring the rear lights on my 427. It's a clone of Peter's car hence rear reflectors on the lower of the two bullet lights. The wiring harness has a pig tail of green and red. The main feed of the harness has a red and yellow. What made sense to me was to take the pigtail out of the equation and just use the main feed on both side (L & R) |
The yellow and green wires activate both the signal and brake lights, the red is the parking light. On the street cars with 4 lights, I usually include a jumper from the bottom light to the top one to share the "juice". I guess someone forgot to give you one. :o

Bob:
Let me rephrase I think I lost you (or me in my ?) Coming from the wiring harness I have a yellow, red, black and brown. Black is to the post for ground Brown is not used in my configuration This leaves the red and yellow. There are two lights on each side in a normal ERA street car configuration (4 single lights total). The original street cars actually only had one set of lights that illuminated. The top light was "juiced" the bottom light was a LUCAS RER 31 reflector with no wiring at all. That is my problem/question. How do I wire the lights assuming I need to illuminate only one of the two lights per side? I have green and red pigtails coming off the lights I have installed. To date I have installed the black ground to the lug on the light, red to red, then yellow (from the harness) to green on the light pig tail. The kit did come with a jumper which is what I took off (disconnected from the harness). The other side (right) the harness colors are red and green which match the pigtails coming off the lights. I just matched those up for now. Obviously everything is temporary until I get a better idea of what the hell I am doing! |

Thanks for the info Bob, I appreciate it.
