Clutch slave adjustment
Hi.
After experimenting with various brackets, the slave is in. Any advice on how to adjust it? What is the proper installation? I must admit I do not understand the instructions in the manual. . . Thanks. http://img505.imageshack.us/img505/9716/pict6054yq0.jpg |
If I remember the instructions correctly you push the adjustment rod all the way into the slave cylinder and them back the adjuster out until you have 1/4 inch of free play on the throw out bearing arm.
Note: It take a fair amount of force to get the adjustment rod to bottom out in the slave cylinder. DonC |
The slave cylinder has an internal spring that forces the piston out to its furthest extended position.
1/ Remove the external return spring. 2/ Push the fork forward (toward the slave). The amount of motion indicates the clearance at the throwout bearing. 3/ Adjust the rod-link so you get 1/8"-3/16" motion at the fork. 4/ Re-install the external spring. The spring must be strong enough to pull the fork forward to bottom out the slave. |
