Hmmmm...I never really considered having the grille, but now I am thinking about it...can't hurt to look at it with one installed...
|
Nice photos!
Next time you are at ERA, try a grille on for size and post a picture, would like to see how it looks on your car. I believe it's fairly simple to install and remove. |

Was at ERA today and got some nice pics of Tim's car. Looks like it is coming along.

That last pic reminded me of something. Here's a tip: either ask Doug or do it yourself at home-remove those jet-nuts and install 10-32 or 1/4-20 threadcerts from Marson. I finished with button-headed stainless allens. Do the access panels, radiator panel, nose tin and tunnel. You will remove those parts from time to time and this is a world easier than (and better looking) sheet metal screws.

Jeff,
Nice work, love the photos ! Looks like the front end is just about all done. I see that the bumpers are off, black quick jacks on the way ! Doug is working on the rear suspension assembly, will be going with the outboard brakes. I did make one change from my initial setup and that is to go with a 3.54 rear axle ratio, versus the 3.31 setup. Peter, Bob and Doug all strongly recommended that setup when paired with a small block and the TKO600 with the 0.82 OD. The 3.31 would give me a bit longer 1st gear, but 5th gear performance on the freeway would suffer. I talked with Dangerous Doug (2108) who has the exact setup and he really likes his car's performance in all 5 of the gears. Bottom line, ERA will do whatever the customer wants, but sage advice from fellow Club Cobra members and ERA owners, has taught me to listen carefully to the recommendations from ERA, they are the experts. Jeff … any news on your car :) … still too much snow on the ground for a test drive? Did you at least sit in your car and pretend ( vroom! ... vroom!! ) you were driving ? Thanks again ! - Tim |

This is the set-up on my car and I think it's a great combo. Great pictures. Can't wait to see more as time rolls on.. - Allen. |

Inglese will do the final tuning sometime before road testing, but that won't be for awhile, as there is a TON of snow up there and a lot of sand and salt on the roads. I'm in no hurry. I did the "vroom vroom" thing when we fitted the Kirkey. Shifted through all the gears, heel-toe downshifts, etc. I was surprised by all the room down by the pedals. Looks tighter than it really is. Hope yours ships out soon. They are working on it! The color really looks great in person, and I bet it will be better outside in sunlight. I think you'll be very happy. Jeff |
Tim,
When do the wheels and tires roll out and onto the car? Or you having a hard time picking out what shade of gray for the centers? I can't wait to see your car in person. It's looking very cool. |
Rodney ...
Thanks! ... wheels and tires should be on soon ... went with satin black for the centers and polished rims, hope they look half as good as Jeff's all black wheels on 2131 :):) The car is really taking shape and Tom Lucas at FE Specialties is making great progress on the motor. |

Tom will build you a good engine. |
Well the guys at ERA have been very busy !!!
John sent me some recent photos of 2136 (thanks John!) and they have made great progress and doing a awesome job, the attention to detail and craftsmanship is amazing. There is not a whole lot more left to do … it's really looking good :):) ERA rear suspension assembly, Jag 3.54 posi differential http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...t/DSCN3276.jpg The whole assembly goes in just a handful of very stout bolts http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...t/DSCN3275.jpg Front Brakes http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...t/DSCN3277.jpg Firewall … heater core pipes ready for hook up http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...t/DSCN3300.jpg Interior almost done http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...t/DSCN3298.jpg PSE FIA wheels … I really like the look on this car and I am very happy how they turned out http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...t/DSCN3303.jpg |
Tim, you can almost taste it! How's it going on the engine front?
|
Wow, your 289 is going to be lovely!
I am starting to think I am going to get a 289 for my next Cobra; hell, even old CS says it's his favorite. Looking forward to more pictures of the progress on your car. |
Great rear end.....
Tim -
You need to give us a little more warning when posting those pornographic pictures like that completely exposed ERA rear end - I'm drooling all over my computer, man! Looks GREAT! Jeff |
Lookin' good! A well built & thought out 289 car is as sexy as any 427.
|
Looks awesome Tim! Really coming along. I can't wait to see it.
|
Very nice, I am as of now wishing it was mine.....
Best to you and your future motoring.... |
Thanks guys for the comments and kind words :) ... the car is really starting to come together !
The rear suspension assembly is quite an impressive piece of work, almost a shame to cover it up with car ... and it works as good as it looks. The motor is coming along nicely at FE Specialties in Sacramento. At the moment, Tom Lucas is waiting on the primary pipes from ERA ... and ERA is waiting on them from their supplier, hopefully they will be available soon. I'll keep you guys posted. |
