289FIA wheels (again)
I am in the planning stages to build a 289FIA. I plan to order the Jag rear and bolt-on wheels to start. At some point in the future, I plan to switch over to 5-pin knock off wheels from Vintage Wheels.
Will their adapters and wheels fit or will I have problems? What BS and bolt circle do I use? Thanks Bill D |
Wheel specs are here.
The bolt circle front and back is 4.75". Note that the front studs are 7/16-20, the rear studs are 1/2-20. Currently Vintage doesn't make the FIA-style wheel but they've made the 427-style with FIA offsets to fit our cars. Trigo makes a 5-pin FIA wheel but I'm not sure whether they can supply the correct backspacing. Their wheels for the FFR are close so a little extra backspacing is probably possible. |
Thank you. :)

Bill, I can make you a super deal on a jag 3.54 Posilok rear end.. If you're interested.

I'm at least 2 years away from pulling the trigger

I have the Vintage Wheels 427 style wheels on my ERA 289 FIA. They look great. I prefer this look to the FIA type wheel. Also, dig around in your Cobra books---there is a cool "kidney bean" wheel that was used on a lot of the race Cobras.
