Default Replacement radiator for a 1988 EM 90 inch wheel base

Recently bought a 1988 EM, and just had a 351W 408 installed. Looks like the radiator needs replacing as she is running at about 230 whilst moving, and so I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a good radiator that would fit?

Thanks in advance.

pm,

Have you already done the diagnostic steps for excess heat, i.e., thermostat OK, water pump good, bottom radiator hose not collapsing, temp gauge reading correctly, timing set correctly, not running lean etc etc?

Just asking,

Tom

When you are sure you need a new radiator, here's what I suggest. As there was some variety in the choices made by EM builders, try to match your current radiator using its dimensions and features. Summit Racing's website allows you to pick a universal radiator by those characteristics.

P.S. Add sufficient air flow THROUGH the radiator at idle and cruise to Tom Wells' list of things to check.

Don't forget to check water pump. Turned out that was my failure on a almost new engine.

I haven't been on the site in awhile, so I missed your post. I had my radiator cleaned a year ago and the radiator shop said that this was a custom unit due to the left and right "tanks" and how they were constructed. He did a cleaning on mine and fixed a small leak and mine runs at about 180 +/- with the rear fan on. I don't use the front fans much at all. Can you just have your cleaned since it is a good sized radiator?
