Default Fuel Tank mounting?

Ok so I was looking through a old kit car mag and noticed that there was something about FFR using a hammer to straighten out the gas tank or something.

Cany anyone clarify this for me as I am doing research all over rite now.

Thanks

Default Fuel tank mounting

My assembly manual states that you have to straighten the crimped edge of the fuel tank with small pliers, once you take it out of the donor car, because the edge gets bent when the original straps are tightened at the factory. No hammers.
