Shipping to California?
After doing quite a bit of research on this board and on the web, it appears a FFR would fit my needs. Has anyone had a kit shipped to California? What was the approximate shipping costs?
I'm fully aware I'm in for a long, painful fight with the California DMV when I get it finished. Thanks to all for the information on this board. It's been very helpful. |
I used Intercity Lines to have my ERA shipped from CT. They did a great job for me. 800-221-3936 or 413-436-9511

What did it cost you? I'm trying to put together a budget.

You're likely looking at around the $1500+/- range for fully enclosed transport. Mine was $1650 including a $75 charge because it was on dollys which required some extra effort.

That's not nearly as bad as I was expecting! Thank you.

Stewart Transport usually costs less and they deliver straight to your door (unless is a very secluded area), they can transport up to 8 Kits in a Truck:

Stewart transport should be in the $1300 range... they took a $100 off for me and another guy in town who are having them delivered at the same time..

feddersenr, why do you think you are in for a nightmare getting it registered in Cali? The car is titled as a 1965 Roadster. California doesn't have emmission requirements for cars older than '72. I'm curious as if you know something I don't. I am a NC resident but live in California and was planning on hauling mine to NC for registration purposes and all that but would still like to know Cali's rules exactly.

If you have not ordered your kit yet look at the FFR web site about shipping, (banner at top of page) if you already ordered then don't look.

I ordered my kit in April. It arrived in mid June thanks to Stewart Transportation. Shipping came to $1200. I've also since learned about SB100.
Regardless, my engine and tranny are in the car. The front and rear suspension are all bolted in and buttoned up. At least half of the aluminum panels have been rivited in and I'm currently starting on the wiring. Thanks for all of the replys. Here's a pic before I put in the motor and tranny. http://cis.vvc.edu/~feddersenr/pics/roller.jpg |
Lookin good so far!, my first kit ships oct 2nd via stewart trucking, and i guess ill have to learn about the sb100 thing since i live in northern CA also ! good luck
