They're really scarce. I saw just one on ebay several months back with noticeable rust spots all over it. I think the starting bid was set at $350.00. I don't know at what price it ended.
Glad I got mine years ago for $125.00 new!!

There are some repops out there also. Some say they leak but the one I have works fine so far. Gasket seals well and the fittings don't leak. So my thoughts are there might be a few different places that made them? Or quality was hit or miss. The originals I understand were made for Ford by Holley. Same or similar one was used on a early Vette. I've been seeing the repops go for about $100 and the OEM $200-300. I think mine was $65 years back I bought from a forum member here. It looks like stainless and polished out nicely with some dremel time.
If someone were to make a nicely done stainless repop or possibly a nice CNC billet (hint!) one they'd do pretty well with orders I'd think. Ford did these as mentioned in both chrome and plain painted black finish. The repops wre just bare natural finish. They are somewhat hard to find too. Most vendors don't seem to stock them on a regular basis.

I've been working on drawings for a billet housing. Almost done. The machinist who does my work is either too busy or not interested in the project, although I have sent him links to e-bay so he can see how pricey the originals are. I'm a little leery to buy one from e-bay if it's presented as an NOS part. Don't want to pay $350.00 or more for a repop. However, I did find a picture in my 1977 Ford truck service manual (section 24-51-1) that shows an exploded view of the filter and housing with the caption "Typical In-Line Fuel Filter Used with Electric Fuel pump 600-800 series. As soon as the weather breaks I'm going junkyarding for old F-600/800 trucks or schoolbuses. Maybe I'll get lucky.

We used to still sell these at Holley when I was there in the 80s/90s. Real slow movers too - kinda amazing considering what they go for now. I guess the deep draw stamping is keeping the repoppers away..

if someone wants to take the time and make a usable drawing of one. not a hand sketch but a real dimensioned drawing i will machine them. a solid model would be best but a 2D drawing works too. can't say what the machining would cost without seeing a drawing but, it can be done.

Thinking out loud
Acknowleging that there can be some issues with these leaking fuel I was toying with an idea....There are many better types of filters but wanting to stay original as many of you do (?) It doesn't seem like it would be too difficult to eliminate the actual filter element entirely. Assuming the "IN" & "OUT" fittings on the OEM filter housing are opposite of each other (thinking out loud). How difficult would it be connect the fittings on each side of the cannister with a short piece of steel tubing sweat soldered and then attaching the steel lines as OEM thus creating a solid steel fuel line from the pump to the carb....filter the fuel before the pump and thus eliminate the potential for leaks at the OEM housing caused by leaking or cracked threads AND retain the OEM appearance. Would this work for you guys?

Hey Rick that's a great idea. Sal actually did this on his car. I have found a repop that is available in chrome or black and although not identical to original it sure looks the part and supposedly doesn't have the leaking issues. Quite pricey but that is the difference between a good and a great build, the details. Dearborn is the source BTW.

I am going to go with the same Dearborn set-up. As you may get it done first, let me know if you have any leaking. Tim at Dearborn has said the repop, which I believe was built by the original manufacturer, is high quality and has a few very subtle differences specifically to ensure that it doesn't leak. |

I have a chrome Holley version that has hose nipples rather than threaded couplings. Otherwise it's identical. Includes a new filter cartridge, too. $100 shipped to 48 states if anyone's interested.
