Billet Specialties Swivel Neck Thermostat Housing ?

Fas anyone used the Billet Specialties Swivel Neck Thermostat Housing, that has the O-ring ?

How well does is seal ?
Do you get a new o ring every time you remove the housing ?
I assume you don't used a gasket or silicone because of the O ring ?

It would be nice to point it in any direction you need.

Looks great too.

Toss the notion of the thermostat housing and go with an OEM looking expansion tank. It will look a WHOLE LOT better.

Kevin,

Yes, I use that thermostat housing.

It took about 2 hours in all to stop the leaks.

My housing leaked until I machined enough of the housing away to get at least thirty thousandths of an inch of compression on the O rings.

If you go ahead and machine the housing before you start you wil save a lot of time.

I installed, removed and modified the housing 3 times before I stopped the leaks.

I think you would be wise to replace the O ring if you remove the housing.
They are cheap and readily available.

Hope this helps.

Good lluck!

I replaced the o-ring with a regular thermostat gasket with RTV on both sides.

No leaks, yet!

hehe, ya assumed that it would not seal with the o ring but, if you use just sealant, it would be like any other standard housing, jhv48 did. I sand casted then polished my housing and kept it before I sold the motor and very happy with it. I have a photo somewhere.

Just was curious about the Swivel Neck.

I used their version for a windsor, which has an even more suspect O-ring set up (kind of a pear shape to accomodate the water outlet)
Surprisingly, it hasn't leaked at all since install about 2 years ago. Even had it off and reinstalled it at least once. I used the the clear silicone (non-adhesive) goo that I use on my pool filter gasket. No other gasket or sealer. No problems so far.
