erson rocker and arp stud kit question
i have the arp stud kit for my erson rockers for my 445 fe, i was wondering if all the studs are undercut to feed oil to the rockers?, the studs are at the machine shop so i was just thinking ahead from what i remember i thought they were all the same size?.

Studs are not undercut, but do not need to be - don't worry about that. You need to use the AN washers in the Erson kit - NOT the thick washers from the stud kit. You'll likely want to restrict the oiling anyhow.

Barry, why is that? I used the thick washers and have seen no oiling problems that I'm aware of..
Thanks

No oiling problems. But some of them will interfere with the rocker bodies...not always..but sometimes.

does oil still get up there without the undercut? are the clearance holes larger than the ford?

Oiling Studs
The oil does not go thru the stud on a FE it goes around the stud in 2 places. If you look at your head you will see a counter sunk hole on each head, in that countersunk hole you will see a hole on the side of the counter sink, this where the oil goes up thru your stand an thru the tube an oils your rocker arms.

i have seen pictures of the under cut bolts so i was unsure about the studs they are all the same so i wanted to make sure, i think erson said to use washers no larger then .750 the ones they supply in the box look thin . i think the arp washers are not completly round so they hit one way and the other way they are fine. i have precision oil pumps screw in .090 restrictors instslled in the edelbrock heads.

i'm used to seeing the factory studs with a reduced diameter bolt, the clearance holes in the ford stands are a tight fit so they are clearanced for the oil travel up the bolt( yes the outside)
i was wondering if the erson stands have a larger clearance hole for the bolts or studs in this case, making the undercut of the stud unnecessary.
