efi to carb fuel pump wiring advice?

i am currently running a 342 with mass flo fuel inj and also running a walbro 255 furl pump in my fuel safe fuel cell. i will be converting to a 445 fe stroker and a carb, i have a msd 6al, but i was wondering what the best route to rewire the fuel pump circuit would be?. i was thinking about running a oil pressure switch so the pump would turn on when it sensed oil pressure?. also would it be better to keep the 255 pump and return line and get a different pressure regulator or should i just swap out the pump to a low pressure one and cap or remove the return line?

i run the 255 with return on a carb, no problem. just changed the spring in the regulator if i remember right, sometimes they come supplied with two different springs, can't remember where i got this spring but i might of had to cut a coil off to get the pressure down.

I did the conversion, Although on a small block. Just changed the regulator.

Remember that you'll need a key on/cranking circuit to power the pump up for starting - normally about 2-5 seconds prime time.

This is important and deserves a complete answer.

The fuel injection pump is probably built to supply 35 psi, so you may want to replace it with one that only supplies 5 to 7 psi for the carb. Otherwise, the pump will be wasting energy and heating up the fuel. If it is an "In-tank" type of pump, these are cooled by the fuel and usually last a very long time so I would leave it alone and just use a regulator to drop the pressure at the carburetor.

I am a great believer in installing a back up fuel pump in case the primary fails. This has allowed me to drive home on at least 6 occasions instead of riding home on a flatbed. A standard $40 solid state pump will do. You will need a switch and a relay to change from one pump to the other.

There is an additional safety circuit you should consider if you do not already have it. An inertia switch will cut off power to the fuel pump(s) if you have an accident. Juts put it on the ground side of the pump.
