FE Push Rod Hemi?

In another thread, cam choice was discussed with regard to a 527 cid FE. I couldn't help but think the cammer heads would make a huge difference, but we all know the cost is huge. It got me wondering if anyone ever made or adapted to run a Hemi head on the FE, but instead of the fifty foot chain (exaggeration), a push rod design?

Mopar did it and Ford did it with the 429 Boss semi Hemi.

Did anyone make a push rod Hemi head for the FE?

Would that bring the cost down to a reasonable level?

For that matter was there ever a canted valve head for the FE?

I wonder what kind of HP that put out in a mild form?

Pictured above IS the "mild form". The BIG version ran a blower. :)

Articulated push rods didn't make me feel warm and fuzzy, but it may work just fine.

Would a push rod hemi head based off of M/T design bring the cost down?

Would those heads fit in a Cobra much easier than the cammer heads?

Maybe a little but not very much. We have heads to do about anything that you want for the engine now. If you have 10,000.00 laying around you can now get some canted valve billet heads done for the FE. With the stock style wedge Edelbrock, Pond, Blue Thunder heads making 750 HP on pump gas if needed and close to 1000HP in full race form and the Cammer head available as well as the billet head I feel that the cost and the amount sold would be very few which would mean that they would have to bring a lot as well.
I feel that we are lucky to have what we have now for these engines.

Good luck, Keith Craft

40 years since the last high performance FE went into a factory made car, and there are more performance parts available today than when it was produced. On top of that Ford went on to better designs. That says volumes to the popularity of this engine. People are still paying a premium to own one. Kind of staggering when you think about it.

Thanks for filling me in. I do appreciate your's and others sharing information.
