Does anyone knows where can i buy a long oil filler tube as the one on this picture?

All of the breathers I have seen of that style did not have a removable cap. Google DSC Motorsports, he sells them I think.

Thats not an oil tube it is a breather tube. Gessford sells them. The oil fill tub is forward on the far side of the engine.

But, depending on which intake you are running, the front spot for the oil filler tube could be non-existent fitted with a removable plug, as was the case with many of the Ford Sidewinder intakes. I would assume in that case that if you were using that rear breather you would need to have a filler cap on one of your valve covers.

You are exactly right and looking at the picture of this engine, that seems to be the case. The oil fill is in the valve cover.

Actually in that pic, that appears to be a rubber PCV grommet, which wouldn't necessarily be towards the front half of the valve cover if it were plumbed into the back of the carb,so possibly the covers were installed on the wrong sides. But you are right, the other cover probably has the oil filler cap.
Also Lou, that breather requires uses a small basket filled with mesh wire that sits in a recess in the intake below the breather. The basket keep oil from coming up and out of the breather. When you buy the breather you should buy the basket too. |
Tks guys, I guess we learn something new every day. My engine is equipped with the baldy high dome valve covers and are not equipped with an oil filler plug.
The only location that I can find is the breather in the back, which in my car is very low and it is a pain in the ass to put 7 1/2 quarts of oil at a very slow pace or it will back up on you and mess everything up. So I guess I will have to get different valve covers, for there is no other way to add oil into this engine. BTW the engine on the picture is not my engine. Tks Lou |
what intake is on it?
on the passenger side is there a freeze plug in the manifold toward the front? if so that is where the fill tube would go, of course its not the one you pictured but a fill tube that accepts a breather as its cap..... like this.... http://www.fordpowertrain.com/FE%20S...ll%20tube1.JPG |

I think the tube was pluged when the first version of PCV came out. Much like the front fill in the timing cover for the 260 was eliminated. |
looks like your intake does not have the provision for the oil fill tube on the passenger side, however, in the valve cover where your pcv is,.. you could put a different rubber grommet in,... and get a cap with a hole in it for a pcv. you could then fill your crankcase from there.

Ha ha you are the 3rd person that tells me "ne valve covers" the thought is in my mind. I see you have a stallion I beleive this was the precourse for the West Coast Cobra? Nice engine. Tks bud.

BAsque1, Looks like whoever built the engine got a little confused. In the aft part of the intake manifold where the oil fill tube is, is where the PCV valve should be. Where the PCV valve is, is the only viable location for an oil fill tube. If you check Gessford Machine, you will find everying you need to relocated the PCV valve and the oil fill tube. If you look hard, because the light was crummy for this shot, you'll see the PCV valve in the aft of the intake manifold.
