I sent them an email about it, believe me they hear from me at least 3 times a day, im an ass that way.

These are the Kirkham motor mounts. Works of art they are:

I have used both but do use the Edelbrock Performer RPM on most street 482C.I. engines that we do for drivability and performance up to about 5800rpms. If the customer wants to make more than about 625HP I will go with Victor. The gain for the work to fit it into most Cobra's is not worth the hassle and when you cut it down you hurt the performance of the intake.
We have a lot of the 482C.I. engines out there with the Performer RPM intake and most seem to be happy with it.
Good luck, Keith Craft

We did a pair of very similar 482 engines a while ago. one had a Victor and a 1050, the other had an RPM and a HP1000. On the dyno they both peaked at around 6200 and the Victor was about 5 horspower ahead - that could be the carb size difference.

We've also done 445 strokers with the Victor versus the RPM and those dyno at roughly 20 HP better with the Victor. Not sure why the variance - but close enough to tell you to use the RPM and some port matching if clearance is a real issue/concern.

I guarantee that the Victor has more potential with no downside in part throttle on a big engine combo in a Cobra, but as Keith noted - it may not be worth the gain/effort if you're not using the "big numbers" side of the tach.

Some excellent intake manifold discussion relevant to Cobras. It looks like the Victor is one of the few intakes that has the oil fill capability on the front right. If you want smooth Pent Roofs does anyone know what other choices there are?

Quote from Edelbrock "Carb flange height is equal to the Ford high-riser manifold #C4AE-9424-G to fit under 427 Cobra hoods. Runners have plenty of material for port matching to low- or medium-riser style heads. Machined rear breather boss is included with an unmachined nitrous bosses and front oil fill tube boss. Will not fit 427 high-riser and tunnel-port heads."

pick what you want, any of them will work.

i prefer original look, PI intake, sidewinder, etc. I like the look of the bigger runners of the PI or sidewinder intakes compared to the performer, and can use a turkey pan with eityher one. don't worry about too much power down low, once you get into 3rd or 4th, you want power down low.

I'm in the single plane Victor Jr camp. I went with the Victor to knock the tork down as the car is so light. I also wanted to move the power band up and higher rpm. I also went with a solid roller cam and aluminum flywheel. I did have Keith Craft (who build my 496 FE) mill the carb mounting flange 1/2 inch and running a Quickfuel 850. Motor dynoed at 681 at the crank and I'm extemely happy with it's driveablity and power on the street. Running an K&N 9 inch by 2.5 extreme with turkey pan. Pics in my gallery.

Did you use a Kirkham turkey pan, that is the aircleaner I want to use also, I talked to Roger about it, he was full of info for me.

Is the Victor jr for windsor engines and Victor for FE?

gsharapa 04-29-2012 04:08 PM

Mistype as yes my intake is the Victor for FE just so use to typing Victor Jr as have used that on several small block strokers. My turkey pan is not from Kirkham as it is the 2 piece turkey pan where you can take the outside off with 6screws which is really nice to have. The flat base for the carb is being made by fellow Cobra participate to the site. You can do a search on that setup being discussed on clubcobra. I think I have an extra base also....

Why you don't go with Weber carburetors ?
