Got a friend looking for a 427 s.o. for his new Cobra.

Does anyone have a good lead on one? block or motor?

Original or an all aluminum new style engine. How much does he want to spend? What kind of car is it going in. The original blocks are pretty hard to find in decent shape and run almost what a new aluminum block would. Just depends on his budget and the power that he wants.

What do you have in the back room?
I think he want an original but knows he may have to settle for the aluminum block. It's going into a 6000 series Shelby.
We have found several center oilers but he want a s.o.
Power, he has never talked about power. Lots I think.

I do not have any original 427 S.O. blocks at the moment. I will keep my eye peeled to see what I can come up with. Have him give Lance a call at 870-246-7460 if he would like and he will work him up a price on an aluminum set up.

I'm the guy who Dwight is trying to help out....BTW, a big "Thanks" to Dwight for helping me in my quest to find a SO.

The engine will be going into a CSX that I took delivery on in December. I have a bit of a funding shortfall (long story) which has delayed my efforts on the car but now we’re ready to get started with the engine build. Other than a few issues with the car itself, I’m somewhat confident that SAI will resolve them promptly so I don’t experience any other delays of getting the car the on the road.

Back to the engine; my goal is to build a streetable 427 SO with the HP in the 525 to 550 range so my wife can drive and enjoy the car too. I’ve thought long and hard about going with an aluminum block but I think the money would be better spent in the rotating assembly and/or the valve-train. The CSX has been a live-long dream of mine so it will be a “keeper” instead of flipping the car after a few years just to satisfy a mid-life crisis. With that being said, I’d like to have a vintage block but the more I dig into locating a block, it’s pushing me into the direction of a reproduction block from Pond or Genesis.

I have a fresh rebuilt 427 SO. C7AE-A & heads C5AE-F. Short block (no cam) 4.25 bore, no sleeves & are done and ready to finish. $10,500. short block, $12,000. with heads.........Ron
