OUCH.....who is the engine builder? I don't want to do business with them.
I wish you the best on getting this resolved. This sort of thing can really ruin a fun project. John |
Yes, Who is the builder? Im not sure we could organize a lynching, but we can certainly make a stink for you!

1) Your contract with the builder legally transfered ownership of the engine to you after you paid and he shipped it and your engine builder illegally sold your property to someone else (and in this case insurance should have paid to have it fixed, even by someone else, which would be my choice in this case) or 2) Your contract with the engine builder didn't transfer ownership of the engine to you until delivery and he still owes you the engine you ordered I would think a demand letter from an attorney would resolve this for you, especially when citing the laws that were broken and the resulting penalties. Please also let us know who this was so we can all steer clear of him (and DCEL can pay him a visit ) |
who is the engine builder that sold YOUR motor?
Dwight |
Question(s) you said "The shipper advised me to pay the engine builder up front for the repair which I was not prepared to do." did you tell them that was their problem?
How much time passed between you loosing contact with the builder to reconnecting and finding out your engine was gone? Obviously - no matter what you do not want an engine from this guy now, you won't be able to trust it. Get your money and let us slander his name unmercifully unless he comes clean on the deal. Mark |
Mike, ya got post this POS's name and number man!

Yes hopefully insurance will cover $1500 (repair cost). Problem is that the international freight company Kiwi Imports who I engaged to transport the motor from LA to Sydney, in turn engaged a land freight company to transport from Nth Carolina to LA. The damage occurred en route form NC to LA. Kiwi Imports are launching a claim with the land freight company, and are not necessarily acting with enthusiasm towards me. I should say that the lady I have been dealing with here has been very nice, but doesnt seem to have much influence over the LA office. I will continue to push from this end in an attempt to recoup that money, it will at least soften the blow somewhat.
As for excuses, the engine builder claims that if any equipment is in the workshop for 30 days he has a right to sell it and recoup costs. There was a 40 day gap between contact. Because I hadn't received his emails I had no idea he intended to do that. Now he's acting as if he's the victim, and it's sh**ing me to no end. As far as naming the builder I won't provide Jesse's name just yet ......what I will say is that if I'm looking for another engine, I definately won't be considering one from Dodgy Brothers Antarctica, Go2slow motors, or Super Fast Fords in Wilkesboro North Carolina. I'm not familiar with the 30 day rule, so not sure where I stand, I will look into it further from a legal perspective. I need to be mindful that I don't throw good money after bad. |
|
I'd be surprised if the "30 day rule" is anything more than something the Dodgy Brothers made up.

I have heard these stories before. I you guys are buying from over seas you need to do research on who you are doing business with. We send engines all over the world and I have never treated anyone like this. there are way to many shady people out there these days. there are a few reputable builders left and these guys know who they are.
If it sounds to good it probably is. Buyer be ware of these fly by night shops. Set up in one name rip people of and then close and open up in a few months later under another name. If we can help you with a nice with no bull **** or problems give us a call at 870-246-7460. Thanks, Keith Craft |
How right you are Keith. You were my first choice and I was considering getting a 428CJ short bock from you when this complete balanced and blueprinted side oiler came up and yes, i thought it was too good to be true and bought it. Well, hard lesson learnt. When I recoup my losses, I'll come knockin'. Cheers.
