FE spark plugs ?
 
It's been a while since I changed my plugs, I've sand blasted them a couple of years ago but I feel it is time to actually buy some new plugs. I haven't kept up ith all the new stuff. I think I now have one or more fouled on right bank. During start up untill it's warm I get the bigest sperattic bangs out of that side pipe.So far I'm of the opiniion of autolite plugs are preferred but that is the limit of my knowledge. I have Dove alluminum heads and intake manifold 11.5 comp ratio and a wild cam so startups are well planned not as casual as my regular driver. any input?

Not as radical as you, but do have Hi-rise heads, 10.25 CR, .600 lift street roller cam and have always used Autolite 45's.

I removed #46 Autolites and Autozone clerk said that that was as hot as they make. I bought a new set of #46 s Gaped at.042", antisezed the threads ,silicone diaelectric greased the plug wire boots. Good for now.

just curious...why do you think you should run a hotter plug than a 45. the 45 is actually hotter than the plug the factory used...BF42 or BF32 for racing

i would think the 46 would be too hot....what does your plug color look like after running them, the backfiring could be a lean condition backfire or too much gap.....might get better luck with a .035 gap

Currently running Autolite AR 3923. Went there from 3924 and seemed better, but the AR's are just the type it's always had. Gapped at .045".
Curious how they compare to the old BF's that I ran since I was a kid. And not to start a whole deal here, but now it seems like the rage is this E3 plug. Guess I'm getting old.

kinda like an apples and oranges comparison...but the new style plug(peanut plug) has more choices for heat range...and lots of manufacturers to choose from. its actually kind of hard to dial in the older heads now with the meager choices of plugs. i'm always on the lookout for NOS BF32's....i never tried the E3's.......were not old we're vintage....has a better ring to it

I stored the car this fall for several months. I had to make room in the garage for puppies. When I strted it poped and farted mostlly out the right side sidepipe. The engine wasn't running right untill the engine was really warm. It took about six miles to get running right. The next timeI started it up in my garage more bangs and flame out right side. I suspected fouled plugs. They were black. So I wanted to try new plugs. Hoping they will stay clean for a while.
