I would have good faith in a set of Isky Red Zone bushed lifters for that kind of longevity and more....and personally know of a couple guys who have over 10k miles on some pressure fed Comp lifters.

I've personally gone that far (10,000) and more with plain vanilla Comp lifters - but the next guy you see in the parking lot seems to have trouble getting half that. Never have "figured it out" but it does happen. FWIW - I am a fan of tight lash, really good quality springs that are firm enough, and high idle speeds (1000-1200 min).

Agreed. Those last 3 points that you mentioned are pretty paramount in my mind.

Agreed.
If I ever went to roller (currently flat tappet) I would have a rev kit to keep the roller in constant contact. Valve lash setting is then slightly less critical.

Same here, but also add that I cut the groove in the lifter bore to get oil on the lobe & roller, had one car that was getting up to its 6th season with no problems, but 'they' got a bit lazy on the lash checks, put a couple of rockers on with the center pivot upside down & that was it!
I have to wonder when I read threads of this nature what the drivers action was when the noise started, was the get it home factor in play?

My sound happened in the garage so lucky me. When It happened to my Dad, he was on the freeway in the fast lane and could not get over.
