427 cam and intake advice
Hi, I finally got my 65 427 SO motor. I received my 428 crank and am ready to make a intake and cam selection. My motor has stock 427 heads and currently a 12.5-1 compression and 705 lift roller cam and roller lifters . So I'm opting for a set of 10 to 1 pistons and I was wondering your opinion on cam selection and roller vs. hydrolic . I also have 3 intakes to choose from PI aluminum intake, Dove 2 four intake and a offenhouser one four aluminum intake. Which one should I use ( I like the look of the 2 four but is it too much gas for the motor . Here are my specs. 5 speed Tremac trans, 411 9" rear, my intended use will be street driven(stoplight raced) and an occational dragstrip run, I would like to use pump gas and I want the car to have a good cam sound but retain an idle. Would you recommend a 500 lift cam ? Thanks for any input. Olaf
