Need Advice
I am in western NY, I have a 390 FE in my cobra, looking to replace the motor, I don't need the 500 HP, just want it to sound good and look nice.any suggestions?

Check out Keith Craft. I found his prices better than I could rebuild it myself.

What's wrong with the 390?
Can you just rebuild it or are you looking for something completely different?
More info would be helpful.

Southern Automotive has a good reputation as well. If the block is still good, I can give you the contact information for a local builder with a good reputation for building quality motors. He is about 2 hours from you and it would save some money.
It would be helpful to have a little more information on what you are looking for. Staying with the original block slightly toned down power wise would be a savings over going to a small block and then having to replace motor mounts and headers.

In the process of getting my 390 stroked, new crank, pistones and heads. Should bring more life to my car.

Swap out the sidepipes with larger bore pipes. It will change the sound dramatically and the cost is well worth it.
