ARP Balancer Bolt?
 
In putting my new ARP square drive balancer bolt on I noticed it's a little too long over my existing bolt. If I use both washers on the bolt it will work. The threads are clean. Any suggestions?

Trim a 1/2" off the end of the bolt. Not a big deal.

Do you use Loctite on that bolt? And what torque?

I assume they are reusable.

No Loctite.....use ARP lube and torque to 135.

BTW, I've never had to cut an ARP balancer bolt off. Are you sure you didn't buy one for a 351C?

All Ford's have a 5/8" balancer bolt, but the lengths are different between the Cleveland and other famililes.

The new Bolt is supposed to be correct ARP square drive 150-2503, 2.050 in. My existing original bolt is 1.75 in. So I guess I have to either cut the bolt down or use both washers. What say you?

Have you tried it yet without cutting it or are you just going off the overall length between the two?

If you are sure the bolt is to long, trimming won't hurt a thing.
I would not use a double washer, myself.

I've tried it and there is a gap with the new bolt compared to the existing bolt. I know it does not sound right and the balancer is flush up against the spacer.

Curious as to whether the balancer you're using is the cause of your concern.

Does this mean assembled fully home?

Does your balancer have the same length as a stock balancer?

Yes the assembly is fully home. The balancer is the same depth as the stock balancer. The threads are clear, clean, and the same depth.

I just got off the phone with the ARP Tech. They have heard of this happening before with some cranks and said turning it down to the same size as oem bolt is not a problem. I should of just called them to begin with. Sorry for the forum usage.
