Smiths Fuel Pressure Gauge
I will be running a carb'd 390 in my FFR, and I want to install a fuel pressure gauge in the dash. The fuel pressure gauge is electronic, I am unsure where the sender is placed to feed the gauge the information.
Any information regarding parts (fittings etc)for the install would be appreciated. I am trying to keep the car somewhat period correct. Cheers, thanks in advance. Achi |
Why complicate things for no reason? use a simple qage on the feed line to the carb, it's pretty much bulletproof.

If you want a pressure gauge on the dash, then you will need an isolater on the firewall. This is a must as it keeps fuel out of the cockpit. The isolater is basically a diaphragm filled with glycol (anitifreeze) that receives the fuel pressure from your source and transfers it to the gauge through the firewall. DO NOT try connecting direct fuel pressure through your firewall and to the gauge!:eek:

You can have a fuel log fabricated with a fitting on the back that will allow you to connect the Smith's Electric fuel gauge. That is how I am planning on doing mine.

Yes. Like this pic. You can see the tap off the fuel log going to the isolater (red part on firewall)

Thanks again everyone, I cannot get the mechanical gauge so opting for the electronic. The pic shows me how the mechanical is connected, so I am assuming electronic is similar, just no fuel to an isolator, just wires to the back of the gauge.

Its just another place that can spring a leak.......The electronic one is ok ..put the sender in the hole in the log ..where that little guage is. But that is now putting voltage at the fuel log??
