Flushing showed nothing abnormal. Will run it tomorrow and check head temps.
Gary: checked head gasket orientation, Both sides have a corner of the gasket sticking out on the front lower corner, which I believe is correct. I hope I can find a "Rag" !! Ted |
You that have incorporated the siphon style coolant tank add-on, what tank did you use and where did you locate it? Does the tank have to sit at the same height as the FE tank or do you have issues of it siphoning too much out?

The Spal 30102120 is a great fan that I used for a number of years. For our 90+ degree days and those times I've been stuck in slow traffic, I decided to add some cfm, and installed this Spal fan #30102113.

The coolant temp never exceeded 90 degrees C. Now, I do have my pusher fans wired in on a supplemental circuit. And they do indeed make a difference when I really, really need it, which I never do unless I was trapped in a really bad, hot, backup, which I never have been. More likely, it would save my miserable butt from a boilover resulting from a failed SPAL motor, or a failed relay, or a blown circuit breaker on my primary puller fan side. Turns out that I was looking right at the problem all along without realizing it! Even with the water temp below boiling, running aprox 180 f, water/steam was being discharged thru the o'flow hose. Got out my long forgotten pressure test kit and found the cap would hold no pressure, also tested block/radiator, it held pressure,no internal leaks. New cap (13#) and thermostat installed, test drive was good with the temp staying just under 180 Deg, with no fan running. Still need to find a recovery can that will fit in the limited space available fwd of the eng. Thanks for all your help' Ted |
