I replaced my oil pan without using sealant because I had read that if you needed to remove it again, the sealant could make the job more difficult. I mention this because I noted that you intend to use sealant for your repair.

If I did not use sealant I am sure it would leak like a stuck pig. The windage tray and the pan create the need for 2 gaskets. I do hear what your saying about getting it off. It took a carpenters knife to do it this time but it was manageable.
