Performance Ideas...
A mildly built 428 ( built for torque) in front of a toploader should
translate to what kind of performance in one of these cars. I know there are a bunch of variables. But Ball Park performance... |
Anything the can be described as "mild" is obviously not enough. Find a decent engine builder, and come up with a mission that you want to obtain, then go from threre

Over 400 horsepower it gets tricky
In most light cobra replicas, anything over about 400 horsepower with street tires, average street suspension, and you cannot use all that power off the line or in a hard corner anyway. Many guys who race them have no more than that, and win races. So it depends on what you want, a drag and cruiser car? A road race type car? If you want a daily driver that has get up and go, 400 horses in a 428 should be plenty.
My West Coast is heavier than original style cobras, and needs more oomph, so I am going with 600 + ponies. |
B in B, how much heavier are the West Coast cars? If you think you need a 514ci, 600+hp motor I'm guessing it tips the scales at around 8,000lbs.:D
|
Hey what's wrong with 600HP? You need that much to catch those pesky bullet bikes :)
|
Heh, heh
The West Coast cars are weighing from 2800 to 3000 lbs, fully loaded (wet) and so yes, it will be able to catch most of those bullet bikes (She should be faster than my Yamaha V-Max 1200 V-4 motored monster...10.8 sec quarter @ 124 mph, top speed about 160 mph, stock)
6 speed Richmond over drive tranny, centerforce 2 clutch and Strange Engineering 9 inch 3.00 Pro Street modular differential and 31 spline axles should help. She is due at my front door sometime in April :MECOOL: |
