Leaking remote oil take off plate
So I have one of these crap design take-off plates.
http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/s...=89969&cat=500 The hose connections and the plate itself have been making a mess on the garage floor for a while so I finally got around to pulling it off. The take-off plate has now been honed flat so it should take a proper gasket without leaking. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/s...=89970&cat=500 Before i try to fix this back on, have a few questions I'm hoping people over the pond can answer - correct the bolt sizes used on the take off plate?(one of them looks like a cut-down job that I want to replace it) - suggested torque should i use on mounting bolts? - recommendations for gasket sealant please, if any is needed. (read somewhere about coating in oil first?) - recommendations on getting the hose connections to stop leaking. Many thanks, kevin |

1) the bolt size is 5/16-18 UNC. The holes are tapped .60" deep. You'll have to add the thickness of your adapter bosses (they are different) to come up with correct bolt length 2) Bolts are torqued to 12-15 ft.lbs 3) I prefer Permatex #2 but Right Stuff would also work 4) The hose threads are NPT (Tapered Pipe Thread) Teflon tape or other proper sealant for tapered pipe thread Hope this helps Paul |
throw that in the garbage and contact david kirkham, (kirkham motorsports) he makes a very nice one with o-ring gaskets. I had one of those on my ERA car and it leaked from day one... he probably stocks them and can ship it to you and you will have a top of the line billet one...
