Ed : yes, the BBM heads look very good. They use beehive springs, which are a single.
Not sure about them. I'll do more checking on them if they end up on my short list.
Thanks for the input.

They have several versions that you can match to your requirements.

If Barry would only answer the phone.......

Mark; I'm getting my car ready for sale, and I'm afraid chinese heads on a Kirkham with a Shelby alum block might be a turn-off for some potential buyers.

feadam 04-01-2021 08:47 AM

You should look at the Shelby heads they have new combustion chambers and I think updated ports

Craft Performance

the new owner of Craft Performance is Lance Smith. Great guy.

I've bought parts for my center oiler 427 from him. He is doing all the machine work on my block, including drilling oil gallery so I can run a hyd roller cam/ lifters.
I talked to him today about parts we are waiting on. Cam, intake, rods and other parts because there is a shorting in the U.S. of American made parts. Edelbrock is moving most, if not all of their facilities out of California. Big delay. Most casting factories have huge delays because of Covid 19. One piston manufacturer said he had a department of 50 people machining pistons. 40 are out because of Covid 19.

Lots of motor parts are on backorder, even brake rotors.

Crazy year that started last year.
I pick a bad year to build a 427. I started last April and I may get lucky if I can install the motor late this summer / fall.
On the good side. I took the Fairlane for a cruise today. The old 390 just chugs along.

See ya in Ohio in June.

Well...you're probably right. Although they're a Chinese casting, all the work is done in Alabama.

MOTORHEAD 04-03-2021 06:32 AM

Dwight; Yeah, that's pretty much the same as what I've been hearing from every one I've been talking to !
Biggest problem that I've been having is getting anyone to answer the phone !
I understand if you answered all the calls, you can't get any work done, but not answering gets you no customers.

Thanks for the reminder about LCS, I've never been, and this year would be my last chance ! (at least with this car anyway )

Mark: I talked to Barry @ Survival MS about a week or so ago, he said he had castings, but nothing ready to go because he couldn't get parts to finish them.
When I called a couple of days ago for an update, got the recorder that said "mailbox full,
"Please HANG-UP" !!
He was either machining castings, or looking for another line of work.!!!!

Ted

He doesn't even answer his cell phone.

MOTORHEAD 04-09-2021 06:41 AM

Mark: I was able to contact Barry thru the FE power forum.
He has castings, but he's moving his shop, so production is halted until his machinery is installed and operational.

I have a set of very low mileage Edelbrock Performer RPM heads that came off a running 1968 428scj engine. The casting number is 6005 and they have the as cast valve diameters 2.09 int./1.66 exh. If your interested send me a private message and I can provide further details. I tried to send you an email through this forum previously and did not get a reply, not sure if you received it.

unique 427:
I talked to them 2 couple times in the last few weeks, they have nothing in stock to sell, like everyone else that relies on edelbrock as a sub contractor. .
