Edelbrock Intake Manifold Question
Today I pulled off the Edelbrock Performer Intake manifold on my FE to replace a leaking manifold gasket. First time I've done this on a FE so forgive me if this is a stupid question. I noticed that the front water passage on the manifold is open allowing coolant to flow through the manifold from one side to the other howver the rear passage is blocked so no coolant can flow through that passage. It's not blocked with crud, the manifold appears to be designed to stop the flow in the rear passage. Just looking for confirmation this is ok. I've never had any overheating issues so I assume this is how it should be.
Thanks, Gary |
That's how it's designed. If you've never done an FE intake, I'd encourage you to do a bit of reading about how to do it. For example, you need to install the distributor to help locate the manifold before you bolt it down. Also, go easy on the sealant. Be aware that the oil drainback passages from the heads to the valley intersect the corner head bolt holes and too much sealant on the gasket in this area could obstruct the passages.
