Dual Plane Manifold!

Did Ford make a 4V or 2X4V Dual Plane manifold for the FE Tunnel Port?
I am getting conflicting information telling me, the only TP manifolds were single plane?

If anyone knows the correct numbers for such a manifold, I would appreciate it. It would make it that much easier to acquire the correct manifold.

Turk:

Yes, three manifolds were made for the TP.

1. C8AX-9424-B Alum. 4V single-plane
2. C7OE-9424-A Alum. 8V single-plane
3. C7OE-9424-B Alum. 8V dual-plane

You don't see many of the dual-planes.

I have the 8V single-plane (polished) it is without a doubt, the nicest-looking Ford manifold I have seen.

8V Dual plane? Isn't that defeating the purpose of what a tunnel port is all about? I belive they existed, but why?

SFfiredog 05-30-2002 10:51 AM

Tunnel port 8V dual plane

The dual plane 8V tunnel port was designed for the Le Mans GT 40 effort. The single plane intake lacked the low end demands of the engine coming in and out of the slower hair-pin turns encountered on the European road courses.
Turk, I'm disappointed that you didn't believe me about this manifold! The price for the one I have for sale just went up!!;)

That's right, TP 1,2,3 at Le Mans. Apparently those 20 mph hairpins were a bit tough. :D

Mike,
I am actually hoping someone would tell me and convince me that the other manifolds I already have are a better deal.

If I had known yours was for sale, I would have tried shoplifting it while I was there last weekend.

By the way the car runs great after your magic touch. Ity runs a lot better with all 8 cylinders than it did with 7

Thaks again, you are truly a craftsman.
I recommend anyone who needs any engine work done locally to go see Mike in San Francisco.

C'mon Turk - admit that the only reason you want a dual plane TP manifold is because it's dual - has to be better then single, right?

Turk 05-30-2002 11:39 PM

Wilf
If single is good, dual is better.
If a little is enough, more is better?

You should see what I did to our front lawn when I applied my never failing logic to how much Scott's Ferilizer is enough!

I still think more the better, almost on anything.

TURK
The excessive one.

Jamo 05-31-2002 12:06 AM

Turk
Based on that logic, I have a MUCH better a$$ than you do!

Turk 05-31-2002 12:40 AM

"almost on anything".

You have to read the fine print.

not if you're standing down wind after a big plate of re-fried beans!!%/ %/ %/

wilf leek 05-31-2002 03:38 PM

Turk - so, on the basis that "more is better", how come you aren't fitting a crate 514?? Or stroking one? And don't try to cloud the issue with fine print - you need all of that you can lay your hands on in the Road Serpents forum. Geez - to think I have been defending you against Dan Semko.

Jamo - bearing in mind in the eventuality that you may one day sit on me if I am unkind to you , I agree about your A$$! It's obviously much better.

David - if you are still stating that a lot of gas is good, you cannot have actually met Pat!!!!

I have never seen a DP TP.. Sort of a mythical creature I suspect. Some parts guy it Detroit is probably using them as door stops in the Ford warehouse.. lol.. I think you really would be better off using what you have anyway.. How else are you going to get the 600hp you know you want..

Jeff.. You don't have a hair on your A.. if you don't put that flag signature back up.. :-)
