Conway..
..a little more info is required.
"LeMans engine" could mean just LeMans crank and rods.
What's the rest of the specs on the engine?

Conway,

The original LeMans 427 engines were designed with different cranks and rods as Ron said above, plus they had other aluminum weight saving parts. They were designed to run at 7,000 RPM for 24 hours instead of 500 miles like the NASCAR version which was heavier. I don't have all the specifics but I think there is a Ford website that has all that information. If I can find it I will post it. I had one engine that came with LeMans rods in it and changed them to the regular NASCAR rods as the LeMans rods were lighter but just didn't seem to stand up to daily driving as well as the heavier ones do.

Ron61, did you have a problem locating
NASCAR rod bearings, I understand they only made standard, did you find another another source?.

Perry,

That was way back in 1965 I think it was and the local Ford dealer was a friend of mine. He got them for me through the Ford racing program. I don't know all the particulars as I never asked. He could get anything that anyone wanted if they knew him and would ask. In fact he was the one that suggested we take the LeMans rods out and go with the NASCAR stuff.

You may have to redefine "daily driving"... The NASCAR rod/crank configuration is not interchangable with the Lemans units. If I remember correctly the NASCAR journals are .080 wider.. Either are perfectly fine but you cannot interchange them.
