Remote Oil Line Connections
I just received my Superformance and I am in the middle of installing a 428 CJ. I have used a remote oil adapter block off plate that bolts onto the side of the engine in place of the oil filter housing. It has 2 large holes and 1 small (for pressure). I am trying to connect it to my remote oil filter and remote cooler. I am not sure what line goes where and which which hole on the cover late is which (in or out).
Any help would sure be appreciated. Thanks in advance  |
Bob Putnam....we need you!!
Hello
I wish I could find the nice drawing I have a copy of from Bob Putnams ERA site......it shows the line's orientation to the oil filter and cooler to and from the adapter on the engine As best as I can describe it... the bottom most large hole is the "outlet port" which goes to the inlet side of the remote oil filter (in-port) The out-port from the filter now goes to the right side (pass side) of the cooler....then come out on the opposite side (drivers or left side) of the cooler and go to the top most large port ( inlet port) on the adapter at the block. You are right about the smaller 1/8" NPT port is for the oil pressure. Hope this helps you my fellow canuck.........Nice engine and colour choice Tim |

OK Racing,
Be very sure you have your lines correctly installed. Before you fire your engine pull your distributor and use a 1/4" extension with either a 5/16" or 1/4" socket to manually turn your oil pump counter clockwise. You should be able to see significant oil at your rocker arm stands. I am speeking from experience I burned all my bearngs and three pistons in less than 15 minutes. VERY EXPENSIVE mistake. Hopefully, you are not running stock rocker arms because if you intend to do any racing they will not hold up very long. Also, speaking from experience on this too. I have had one heck of a learning curve this year. Bob Putnam will show you the correct way but still check everything before you fire. Clois |
Thanks Bob....
I will have to bookmark that pic Tim |
Thanks for the help. Now to connect my oil thermostat into the filter cooler line.
