big kid
I have a new SPF with the 392(MSD6AL, MSD distributor, Holley 750, Accusump, Canton road racing oil pan). I have over 1400 miles on it. I think it has all the power a person would want. It idles at 900rpms, and OH! what a sweet sound. Ford advertise the engine at 430hp & 450lbs torque. But every time someone has put one on a dyno, they get about 455hp on up, right out of the box. I have not checked on mpg yet as I have just broken in the motor. On my Superformance I've misshifted into 3rd at 15mph and left it there. She pulls steady and hard all the way to red line whitout any misses or stumbling. It doesn't overheat, and the oil temp and oil pressure are right on the money. Just one more thing. Make sure you retorque the heads after a hundred or so miles. It tells you the exact procehure in the paper work supplied with your engine. Its very important. Hope this helps......Lew |
And if you swap heads only (to AFR 185) you get an extra 75 HP. See the article reprint with "75 HP" in the title at www.airflowresearch.com
