Rhoads Lifters

Anyone have opinions/experience with these?

Rhoads Lifters

JoeA - Even though I've seen some bad comments about the Rhoads Lifters, I've had success with three engines that I've built. Bottom end response is excellent. At idle the Rhoads Lifters are a bit noisy sounding like a solid lifter engine at the point of needing a valve adjustment to tighten clearances. As you step into the accelerator you can feel the engine progressively coming on to the high side of the cam as the lifters pump up solid.
The engine in my personal 427SC has them. At idle my FE is pulling over 16 inches of vacuum at 950 RPM.

Contact me if questions remain. - Aggressor

I don't know any engine builders who use pump-up lifters.

I had'em in my previous engine, a 289. When I had the stroker put together the builder suggested a roller cam. My car will sit idle during winter, (with periodic startups), so its easier on the cam... otherwise he suggested priming the block prior to starting it up in the spring.

P.S. Make sure you prime them in a cup of oil before you install them.
