Exhaust
I just replaced my glaspack sidepipes with full length open sidepipes. How do I know if I have to rejet the carb. The motor is a 10:32.1 428 with the Edelbrock rpm package and a solid Comp cam with 605 lift. The carb is a Edelbrock 750 out of the box. I checked the plugs after about 100 miles on the new pipes and they had a light brown to whitish tint.

ZZZZ,
checking plugs may be misleading. after one or two hard laps on the track you are supposed to switch the engine off and coast into the pits to get a good reading. the best would be to have a air-fuel ratio meter hooked up into the exhaust. have it done by an expert. messing around with jetting and timing may destroy your engine in no time. dominik, cape town |
That plug color sounds pretty good to me.

Another thing to look at is how those new pipes are turning out inside the openings?
Are they black tan or light? The plugs should be looked at after a run or a few track laps and off like the above mentioned. No idles and puttering. Fresh plugs should be used for that purpose too. What octane gas you run has an effect too. Tim |
Light tan is exactly what you want.
But forget all that................WHAT DID IT SOUND LIKE?!!? :) |
Thanks for the help.
