UPDATE: It's been a few years since CJ428CJ posted that question. For those who don't know, the Erson Rocker design was modified so that a shim kit is no longer needed for 427 heads or Edelbrock heads. The rockers come set up for standard 390/428 heads but are designed so that the customer can move shims around (shims that are already on the shafts) and line the rockers up with 427 or Edelbrock heads.

Yes, but since the Shelby heads are 427 MR style heads (with wider valve spacing) you will have to move some of the shims to align the rockers with the valve tips. Erson rockers will not work on HR heads.

Erson also has a part number especially for Edelbrock heads where the shims are already positioned correctly for Edelbrock heads. However, the valve spacing on Edelbrock heads is not the same as 427/Shelby heads so you would still have to move some shims.

When ordering Erson rocker arms, keep in mind that the two part numbers are the same except the placement of the shims. So if Erson is backordered on one part number, you can still buy the other part number and just move the shims yourself.

Very early Erson FE rockers had uncaged needle bearings that were a pain when you removed the rockers to move the shims around because the needles would fall out. But Erson FE rockers made in the last 3 or 4 years have caged needle bearings.

I designed all the current Erson roller rockers. I was a mechanical engineer for Erson Cams and Mallory Ignition for 11 years.

Another ex-Mallory/Erson engineer and I have joined forces to form a small company (RobbMc Performance Products). We are making high volume mechanical fuel pumps for less popular engines (Olds, Buick, AMC, Ford FE etc). Our six valve 110 gph pump for FE engines is still in the design and testing stage but we are already selling one for Olds. The FE version should be out this summer. We are also making easier-to-use offset dowel pins for aligning bellhousings. The pins slip into the block and turn easily and then you tighten a bolt that runs down the center to lock it in place. Pins are available for Ford, GM, Mopar.

Photos and performance curves for the fuel pumps should be on our new website (robbmcperformance.com) next week. In the meantime, email me at racnrobb@charter.net for info and photos.

Anyone here interested in a high volume six valve pump for an FE that is already machined to fit without mods? How about a 130 gph version with adjustable fuel pressure (an industry first as far as I know)?
