Demon carb gushing fuel out of top stem
After attempting to clean my Demon 850 carb with carb cleaner, it started gushing out fuel out of the forward stem pointing straight up. Ah!!! Now I can't start it without fuel spilling everywhere.
Any ideas? Thanks everyone! Frank |
Take it apart and clean it properly. Take the float bowls off and clean out the needles and seats. take the metering block(s) off and clean the passages. While you are there clear out the air bleeds. Repeat steps 1-3 in reverse and reinstall the carb.

The only way fuel will come out of the air vent is if there is dirt in the needle and seat....and it's not closing

Have same carb, had same problem with the secondaries....
It is some crud in your needle seat, exactly as stated above. Remove the 4 allens and clean the bowl/needle assembly out. I would recommend that you order a few red "permanent" float bowl gaskets first, from jegs.com
My gasket was trashed upon removal, and I ran around for a few weeks with the secondaries cut off because of the danger from the afore-mentioned "gushing". All is well now ;) |
All good advice and should be done. The float may be hung up on also, which is keeping the needle valve open.
Take a hammer and LIGHTLY tap on the top of the float bowl. It may free the float if it is hung up. Bud |
