Victor FE intake...
Anyone using this intake? Can you comment on:
1) Hood Clearence 2) Street Driving / Throttle response etc... |
I believe there was a post a while back discussing how a memeber had to mill 1/2" off the plenum to get hood clearance on a SAI Cobra.
As far as drivability is concerned, I depends how big your engine is and the RPM range. A 483 ci engine that turns 6500 rpm will have less low end response issues than say a 428 that turns 5500 rpm with the same manifold. I don't think the Victor would be my first choice for a mild, street driven Cobra. My 02 cents, Mike |
I removed the Victor and sold it. I had it on the car for 6 mos. and was fighting a carb problem at the time .(I thought) The motor was chunky and lazy through 3500 RPM then came alive. I changed to the Ed RPM with the same carb. and it was as smooth as silk. Good idle, good response, good pull through 6000 rpm and very friendly at cruising speeds. The motor was a .060 over 390 (402),forged 10-1 pistons,294S Comp Cam 605 lift 294 dur.,roller rockers,Ed RPM heads,MSD billet dist and a 6AL box, close ratio toploader, alum flywheel,3.54 rear gear. It would idle at 800 rpm and pull 10.5" vac.
I hope this helps. |
It dosen't seem like many people are using them. I guess I better stick with a Performer RPM or BlueThunder dual plane. Any major difference between these two ( except cost!)

I have a re-production aluminum PI intake and had to mill about 3/8 off the top for hood clearence. I have about 1/4'' between my K&N and hood scoop.
