FE dipstick: where...

can I get one? Found a 302 at Auto Zone and a bug block and small block Chevy, Would Pepe Boys or NAPA have one? Could I use the small block one? Broke the tip off mine and need a replacement: just dip stick and not tube etc. cb

After a quick view..

...of the Ford parts book I found over 12 different versions. You would need to know what the original application was...and then there only about three of the correct parts available as reproductions currently, many are not avaialable. Yes, you can use any stick that fits in the tube and seals but you must transfer the markings to it so the lines have some relevance to your application. If you know what the original application of your mototr was I will gladly supply the original Ford part number and dimensions.

Maybe try a salvage yard. Around here they will sell anything they can salvage off a motor including dip sticks and pulleys. If you can't find an original then you can get an aftermarket one that is unmarked and use the original to cut it to the correct length and scribe your marks on it. That has been done before.

Ron :)
