FE Oiling mods
What are the oiling mods for the 427/428 FE engine.

I'm not an expert but I did stay at Holiday Inn Express....
My understanding is that FE engines tend to keep too much oil up in the top-end. So what most builders do is open up the oil return passages in the heads. They also can add a restrictor in the passages that bring oil to the heads. Pretty important stuff if you are running higher RPMs. I don't think the side oiler has this problem...but I'm not sure |
More Oil Mods
In addition to the ones that joea listed above here are the ones I have heard of.
a) Open up the hole from the pump into the block. b) Smooth the two holes on the oil filter pad. c) Open up the offset holes in the main bearing bores. d) And if you are running a solid lifter cam in a hydraulic block, some people block off the lifter galley. Chuck |
