New 427SO Cast Iron Blocks almost Done
we have cast our first side oiler iron block and everything looks to be in good shape. We are going to make a few changes to them. We have at least .300 thick cylinders and more water area around the cylinders for better cooling. We are witing to have everything done right before we bring these blocks to market. I will let you know as soon as we have these done. I hope to have them by the end of the year. We are now working out the final details of the machining and inspection processes. I hope to soon have three sources for blocks so people do not have to pay way to much for old blocks that will not hold up. Thanks

Will these blocks be date coded or will they be blank.
It might be nice to have a C5AE-H embossed in the right place.:D |
The genesis block has the casting number on it like this and we plan on having that on there as well. We are going to try and have the 352 cast on the front of the block as well.

I applaud your ethics guys.%/ I'm now going back to the garage and putting those COBRA badges back on my Contemporary.

This is excellent news.

Why are you "casting" your own when you can buy a Genesis block?
|
Keith,
Great news! Healthy competition is a very good thing. Do you plan to develop an alloy block version as well? As I have mentioned, I hope to be in the market some day. Maybe within 12 months, with luck. Keith Craft is definitely one firm whose products I would buy. Keep us posted! Regards, Paul |
Blocks
One reason we decided to look into this was the hard time Genesis was having getting there blocks going. I have worked real close with Tim and the new ownership at Genesis to help them with the blocks future and things look good there. With the new money influence and the new company's connections things have been moving along.
I was contacted by one of my customers about him building a block and I said I thought we sell all both companies could provide. He has looked at the Genesis block and made a few changes that we think would help on a all out race engine for durability. I believe both blocks will be in the same price range. As I said before I plan on working with both companies because both blocks will much better than what we have ever had in cast iron. We have not said much about the new block because we wanted to get some produced before we said anything. Genesis called me today also and said they had cast some aluminum blocks this week and hope to machine next week. Thay want to send me one for testing before we go to market with it. Thanks |
The Genesis saga continues.....
