OK, spill the beans, What is your cam profile?
I am currently building a 427 Center oiler and I had a cam ground at Cam Research which is 242 intake and 242 exh with 590 lift. It's a solid lifter cam. So what are you guys running and are you happy with it?

I'm running an Isky solid lifter cam in my 428. .530 lift, 240@.050 for both the intake and the exhaust, 108 LC. I couldn't be happier with it. It has a really nice lopey idle and it pulls strong from idle all the way up to 6000 rpm at which point the rev limiter kicks in. Prior to this cam I was running an Isky hydraulic. .565 lift, 232@.050, 108LC. Surprisingly, I don't notice much of a difference between the cams at higher rpms, but the solid lift cam pulls much stronger down low. According to Desktop Dyno, the hydraulic cam should be giving me about 458hp@5500 and 493ft-lbs@4000. The solid should be giving me about 500hp@5500 and 511ft-lbs@4000.

My motor is probably a little over cammed but I love how it runs so what the hey!
Crower 16332 .591 Exhaust .579 Intake .255 Intake @ .050 .260 Exhaust @ .050 Power comes in hard at 3,500-3,800 - 7,000 rpm's. Most apparantly use the next one down but I wouldn't change it. Just watch out for the pushrod holes in the intake for clearance as we had to grind out quite abit material to make it work. Best wishes! |

Isky with 312 duration and .630 lift on both exhaust and intake. Has 92 degree overlap. Not really too good for low end or street crusing. Solid flat tappet lifters, roller rockers.

Comp Cams; .645 lift; 248 duration at .050;110 separation,on the 427SO solid roller. Lopey idle with good high revs. chuck

of the four cams I have tried in my motor over the last ten years (same parts combo otherwise), I am happiest with the smallest duration one. Car doesn't sound as fast at a stoplight, but it is faster and much easier to drive.
