Urethane engine mounts for FE?

Does anyone have a recommended source for good Urethane FE (390, 427/428 etc. ) engine mounts?

I want to limit motor twist some, and don't want to use solid mounts or the 'ol bolt & washer trick unless I have to.

Thanks.

These urethane mounts work great. That being said, finding a pair for the engine, and one for the trans (you need all three), could be a hassle.

Call Ford Racing tech support.

Call Ford Performance Solutions tech support.

Configure some bracketry to adapt what is available for poly mounts to your FE engine and Cobra frame.

Done right, the performance is well worth the effort.

Hey Duane,

I see this request from timt to time and can't believe someone does not already make these things. If you don't find a source, after exhausting your search, these would be easy to fabricate. In fact, they would be easy to produce as I'm sure there would be a market for a urethane / FE setup. Definitely the way to go.

Have you had any luck with your torque absorber project?

Hi.

Hi John,

I hope I don't need to fabricate some, but its a thought now that you mention it. I'll be checking this on both fronts soon.

The TA project is slow, and the prototype is almost complete after three rounds of small revisions to make it a full bolt-up configuration vs. weld-on. Version three is a bit different than the first... I hope to bolt it up soon, but can't try it for a while...injured my hand/fingers out at the dirt-bike track...have cast. Argh.

BTW: got a group of specific people to come down to see the boss and the Rod Shop in March, if you are open to that? Lets email on that one soon to set it up...

Duane,

That sounds like a plan. End of March could work.

Hey Gary,
Right in our own back yard too. I did not even think for a second to check with TC. Thanks, I'll definitely look into it. You'll want something similar for yours...if we can find something that works well. My ERA uses the single stud to u-slot type. Might be easy to make, I'll let ya know if we do this or if I try/buy one. Need to see a few options first... :)

Thanks,Duane! The motor mount thing seems to be a common problem, especially regarding sidepipe hanger breakage. These appear beautifully made, even though they won't show(but when has that ever mattered,eh?)

Decooney Hi Duane I would put a limiter bar on the motor and stay with the rubber mounts. The other trick is to put 2 bolts through the mount and bolt it snug with aircraft hardware. You need a little movement or the solid vibration could cause cracking in the frame of body. I know it's a cobra, BIG and LOUD but some race parts are not the best for an application like this. Match all 3 mounts for the same limit of travel. I had a set of these in my jeep in 85 when they first came out and snapped one 4 wheeling. Life time warranity. I put flat shoulder bolt through and never had the problem again. Mount the limiter bar to the bell housing bolt and not the front of the motor, otherwise it will twist when rotating. Trail and error learning. How the 4 link coming? Have a good day Rick Lake ps 20F outside and 4 inches of snow and more coming.
