Genesis 427 cast block
This is my first post. I'm building a Midstates 427 and I've had a bit of bad luck with (2) 427 blocks, both cracked. I,ve been in touch with Tim at Genesis, does anyone have his block and if so, how is it?

I have seen the genesis block but I do not know much about it, it looks good. Keith Craft has posted about this block before and has used it so you may want to contact him. He is listed in the CC advertisers.

Doc,
Thanks for the info. I'm hearing good things about it, I'll let you know what comes of it. Thanks... Slithering |
Great!
Hey Slithering,
I have a Genesis block in my Cobra and so far I have only taken it for one drive. I was hoping to get some miles on it this weekend but there is still snow on the ground. So far this motor has exceeded my expectations. Theres not much I can tell you after one drive but after having lots of problems with old FE's I felt it was time for a new one. My understanding is there is a little more machine work needed to prep the block. Keith Craft built mine and I am sure he would be willing to answer your questions. I have not seen another one in a cobra yet but I know of several about to be installed. Feel free to email me if you want I'll let you know how things are going. Good luck on your Cobra build. John |
John,
That's the news I'm hoping for. I would like to hear how it performs. Too bad about the snow, it'll be hot enough soon enough in Mckinney! Thanks for the reply, I'll take you up on the advice and the email offer. Slithering |
Genesis block
I am expecting my Genesis aluminum block very soon.
Tim told me that Ford is endorsing this block. He said that in fact it will be a registered Ford part. The iron block is overkill in strength weighing about 25lb heavier than a stock block. And the aluminum block is essentially the same casting. These have both been tested and with good results. The aluminum blocks, after heat treating and machining, are sent out for a coating that protects against perosity. This is a process that Ford uses for their aluminum heads. I will keep you posted. John,
Thanks for the reply. I keep hearing the same good news. I'm too for along with 427 parts to go any other way. I talked with Tim last week, he was heading for Detroit to check on castings. I'm to call him this week, I let you know. Slithering... Chris |
